Technology is very much a part of our lives, and as such, the EYFS encourages nurseries to promote technological learning.  At Snitterfield nursery we do this in a variety of ways, such as by using:

  • Kindle

  • Laptop

  • Robot caterpillar

  • Beebot

  • ebooks

  • Torches

  • Light box

  • Cameras

  • Digiblue video recorders

  • Remote controlled cars

  • Microwaves...

Understanding the World

People and Communities:

As well as learning about and exploring their own family and community, in this amazing multicultural world we believe it to be vital to be taught, from an early age, to be aware and respectful of other's beliefs and ways of life.  To this end, exploring key festivals is a regular part of our play and learning.  This is done through role play, books / stories, food tasting and even watching the `watch festivals' section on the cbeebies website.

Some festivals we explore are:

  • Christmas (Christian)

  • Easter (Christian)

  • Divali (Sikh & Hindu)

  • Chinese New Year

  • Holi (Hindu)

  • Hannuakh (Jewish)

  • Ramadan and Eid (Muslim)

  • Raksha Bandhan (brother & sister Hindu festival)
