Nursery Manager

Snitterfield Nursery School are searching for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and highly capable Nursery Manager. In this long-standing, small-village nursery, the role of Manager is key to maintaining our ethos and sense of community as well as the day-to-day leadership and management of our staff. The role reports to the board of trustees and carries a high level of responsibility. Some previous experience of managing or supervising a childcare team, a minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification and a professional and caring manner are essential. 

The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of the EYFS, Ofsted requirements and childcare legislation, a child-centred approach to learning, strong communication and organisational skills and be committed to providing the highest quality care and learning opportunities.

The nursery is committed to safeguarding children and an enhanced DBS and two satisfactory references are required.

Hours:  The nursery is open 8:30am until 3:30pm during term time only.  The Manager will work a minimum of 28 hours per week during term, but additional hours may be required to meet the needs of the nursery.  Such additional hours may include working during the school holidays. 

Pay: Salary based on an hourly rate of £12.00 per hour plus statutory holiday entitlement.  

Start Date: ASAP

Essential Criteria:

  • NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) or above. Degree level qualification preferred but not essential 

  • At least three years’ experience of working in an early years setting or at least three years’ other suitable experience

  • Experience of managing or supervising a childcare team

  • Excellent understanding of child development and of children’s needs

  • Ability to plan, implement and monitor a stimulating curriculum

  • Ability to work with parents and actively encourage their involvement

  • Ability to lead, manage and develop a team of experienced childcare professionals and be a co-operative team worker

  • Ability to oversee general administration systems and ensure records are properly maintained.
